Scope and Content

Album of photographs, mostly of the Scottish Women's Hospital expedition in Russia. Eleven leaf album of brown card, bound with a dark brown cord tied in a knot, containing black and white photographs, two to six (usually four or five) pasted to each page, and one torn part of a photograph pasted to the inside back cover. Many of the photographs are yellow in tone, and some are faded. Eight of the photographs (towards the back) have manuscript captions on the bottom white edge. The soldiers pictured seem to be Russian soldiers.

Note: some of the pages have manuscript notes by David Doughan (Fawcett Library Librarian) on separate leaves of paper, naming some of the people pictured and places, the notes were made c. 2000.

Physical Characteristics and/or Technical Requirements

Poor condition. Most photographs yellowed, some faded, some with small creases, some with abrasions to the surface, some mirroring. The images on a few have degraded so as to make them unclear. Most images clear, all stable. Production method: gelatin-silver print.
