Scope and Content

Banner and pole (pole detached, polished wood with turned finials), canvas work with light blue centre and dark blue vertical borders worked in cross-stitch with wool (?) thread, canvas ground not visible most likely cotton (?) ground, blue dyed rep weave cotton lining, design: the words 'ST. JOHN'S' ;'WEST BROMWICH';'GFS' appear in central design along with a yellow cross and three lilies, lily stem in each border, worked in cross-stitch throughout in orange, yellow, cream and green wool, four tassels attached to lower corners of vertical panels, each tassel has a wood mould covered in yellow thread and blue net overlay; skirt of plied cord in cream, orange and blue; matching ruffs top and bottom of wood mould, thread mercerised cotton (?), pole sleeve, which is incorporated, into the lining hanging mechanism.
