Photocopy letter. Written from Hotel Caux, Territet, Montreux, Switzerland

'with your account of Lord Bute's election'. Very pleased to have his account of Lord Bute's election as Rector, and satisfactory that it was a constitutional victory. Hotel comfortable but she misses a fire. She plans to do some work every day: 'some directions and some thoughts to be opened after my death'

Lord Bute (John Patrick Crichton Stuart, 3rd Marquis of Bute) a munificent benefactor of St Andrews University was elected Lord Rector of St Andrews in 1892 and re-elected in 1895 for another 3 years.
