Mrs Smyttan (sister) feels lonely while Miss P. is away from Clifton. Busy with the International congress of Hygiene and Demography.

'I have heard nothing of the Bournemouth meeting of doctors but we are straining every nerve for the London Hygienic Congress and to get doctors to go out to Brussels'
The International Congress of Hygiene and Demography met in London during the early part of Aug. 'It was publicly opened by The Prince of Wales, patronised by the Queen and supported by almost everybody with a high-sounding name or a position of privilege and power.'
The 'Dawn' only concerned with one section - that of State Hygiene and with only one item - the programme of that section viz what steps 'should the State take to prevent the spread of venereal disease?'
Debate opened by a paper read by Dr Nevins showing the failure of the Acts based on the Blue Books issued by the Govt and by return furnished on the Govt Depts.
