Sunday [c.3 Jun 1888] [no date but reference to 'my CDA motion' would date it two days before 5 Jun 1888 when WSB McLaren rose in the House to move the repeal of the legislation which allowed the compulsory examination of women and the regulation of prostitution in India. It was unanimously carried] 'as I hope to be able to offer you a seat in the Ladies Gallery on that evening [Tuesday] for my CDA motion.' 5 Jun 1888. 'Resolution carried in House of Commons, on motion of WSB McLaren MP - 'that in the opinion of this House, any mere suspension of measures for the compulsory examination of women, and for licensing and regulating Prostitution in India is insufficient; and the Legislation which enjoins authorising or permits such measures right to be repealed.'
