Outlines a week of visits she and the Canon are making in the next week or so; on Wednesday to the Galtons [Sir Francis Galton married Louisa, sister of George, address 42 Rutland Gate] and while there driving over to see Montagu Butler [Headmaster of Harrow 1859-85 at Harrow; then on Saturday the 10th to Oxford where she is to speak at a large meeting of women. Jowett, the Vice-Chancellor 1882-6 forbade the holding of a meeting of men, so a few ladies and undergraduates got up a meeting of women. They will stay at Arthur's [Arthur Butler younger brother of the Canon returned to Oxford in 1875 as Dean and tutor of Oriel College).

Sunday [4 Mar 1883] Sunday [no date. The Butlers took up their new residence in Winchester late in 1882, so that probable date is when the Canon had completed his first term of residence at the Cathedral, Spring 1883]. 'To Harrow ... to call on Montagu' Montagu Butler was Headmaster of Harrow 1859-85. Montagu was a brother of Rev George. 'Jowett who is Vice Chancellor.' That was from 1882-6. 'Father and I will stay at Arthur's.' Arthur Butler returned to Oxford in 1875 as dean and tutor at Oriel College. Arthur was a brother of Rev George.
