Scope and Content

Photocopy of letter. Written from [Wooler, Northumberland].

A week or more ago she was suddenly struck down sciatica rhumatism and sickness; she still cannot move. Weather also suddenly changed from heat to cold. Mrs Terrell writes from Newcastle but she had to tell her she is not allowed to see anyone. She begs her friend to write M Minod for her; he and the others m de Meurin and Mme Piecynska are all so good and keep her informed about everything. Speaks with gratitude of old Mr Burfoot who was for so many years her short hand secretary. He still acts as her secretary and writes to all those people who ask her for subscriptions, her advice, etc explaining that she is old and ill.
