Sympathises with her over the 'very arid' spiritual atmosphere around her. Her own efforts at prayer sometimes overcome by the intensity of pain that sometimes attacks her. The Ewart family [Ewart Hall was the residence of her son George and his family] were leaving home for a time and she would be quite alone; her own house was extremely isolated. But spiritual fellowship through correspondence with 'some of God's most deeply taught people' keeps her head above water, and helps her to defeat Satan's strongest weapon against believers, discouragement. She is, however, quite sure that 'He will give His Holy Spirit to them that ask.
