Dwells on the disappointment and distress of millions caused by the King's sudden illness necessitating a severe operation and of course the postponement of the Coronation. Comments on the great heat in the south west part of England where she is.
'How sad it is' King Edward VII's coronation had been fixed for the last week in Jun but it had to be postponed by a sudden illness necessitating a severe operation
'Dr [sic[ Treves ... is the same who did it for Jack Baldwin but Jack's was simple appendicitis'. Treves (later Sir Frederick Treves) . The surgeon who was the first in England to introduce the operation for appendicitis. Jack Baldwin was the son of Constance, daughter of Eliza Grey who married William Morrison and was left a widow with 4 children in 1853. Constance married a Mr Baldwin and had one son, John (Jack).
