Administrative / Biographical History

[end of 1901].

'... about a man who has prayed every day for King Edward for sixty years, ever since King Edward was born' Edward VII, the eldest son of Queen Victoria, was born 9 Nov 1841, so this would date the letter at the end of 1901.

See letter of 5 Aug 1902 which tells us who the man was: 'An aged Christian whom I met at Malvern told me that George Müller, the Orphanage man, whom she knew, had said before he died that he had prayed every day for Albert Edward (the present King) from the day that he was baptised, and that he believed he would die a true Christian.

I wrote this to GHS [Mrs Sumner] the Queen's friend and she was so comforted'
