With note on back from JB to Miss Forsaith asking her to answer this lady's letter by saying that 'I am abroad for rest and not at all well'
Date: JB had all along planned to go abroad as soon as she could after the annual meeting of the LNA on 3 Jul. This would fit in with her note on the back of this letter and would give the year 1899 for letter from Mrs Duncan. 'The Storm Bell' ran from 1898-1900
'I was on Miss Ellice Hopkins Committee at Tunbridge Wells in 1883' Miss Ellice Hopkins was largely responsible for the formation of the White Cross League as also for literature to help mothers and those in contact with young girls.
'She founded ... in many towns ... Associations for the care of friendless girls'
For fuller details of her life, see Ellice Hopkins: a memoir by Rosa M Barrett 1907
The writer would probably have found what she wanted advice on by studying Ellice Hopkin's literary output
