Scope and Content

Written from Union Internationale d'amis de la jeune fille, Bureau Centrale, Neuchatel. Very busy recently preparing for JB's two conferences, on yesterday for women only and one today for men and women. JB's warrior spirit has been revived by her fortnight in Geneva where she had to fight against all the old prejudices and injustices. She is very delicate but 'she will fight as long as she has breath'. She leaves here on the 13th stopping on the way in Brussels; she wishes to be back in England in good time for 'the sad anniversary' [death of her husband 14 Mar 1890]

Administrative / Biographical History

'The enclosed cheque for 13/- for M Secretan's book'

In the 'Dawn' of 1 Apr 1890 p 14, JB has written an article on 'the forthcoming book of Mr Charles Secretan', giving a brief sketch of his life with a list of his most noteworthy publications. She ends by asking anyone interested in 'justice for the weaker portions of society and especially my friends of the LNA, to put down their names as subscribers for the book' and a notice of such subscription to be sent to M Aime Humbert, Neuchatel. The book in question was published in 1892 under the title 'Mon Utopie'
