Scope and Content

Written from hotel des Capucins, Amalfi. Report of first week in Amalfi; food good and the 'Episcopio Rosso' wine specially mentioned. Hope to bring back some sketches worth looking at. One couple among guests specially mentioned, Mr and Mrs Robertson. Much warmer than Naples. Much interested in George's account of the evening he spent at Belgrave Mansions (Miss Colman's town house) with Stuart and his fiancée Miss Colman [see letter of 10 Dec 1889 Rev George Butler to his son George] Thinks 'she looks all there and she may help her husband greatly in various ways'. Earthquake at Naples and a slight eruption of Vesuvius. With envelope.
