Written from [Winchester]. To say that M. Humbert had just telegraphed new of Mme Humbert's death. She hopes that the LNA will still grant the £50. As he and his daughter are determined together to keep on all Mme Humbert's work [see note]. Refers to the terrible cold in England.

Sunday [18 Mar 1888] 'M Humbert telegraphed me last night that Mme Humbert passed tranquilly away yesterday.' An obituary notice appeared in 'Dawn May 1888 of Mme Humbert giving the date as evening of 17 Mar. '[M Humbert and Amelie] are labouring together to keep on all Mme Humbert's work. The Committee have begged Amelie to take her mother's place' 'Mme Humbert was Secretary and Treasurer of the International Union of the Friends of Girls ...
