7 Jan 1885 'inviting our friends to the meetings of the 19th & 20th.' This was for the annual meeting of the LNA held on 19 & 20 Feb 1885 at Exeter Hall, London. The 19th was to be devoted to a prayer meeting; this was the first time one day had been given over to prayer at an annual meeting. 20th evening meeting presided over by Mr J Stansfeld. ('I am consulting Mr Stansfeld whether he would prefer a mixed or a woman's meeting on the 20th') (For details see Shield 21 Feb 1885 p.22)
'I have written to Miss Bewicke asking for the cooperation of the London Branch.' The London Branch of the LNA was formed in 1882 and they held their 1st annual meeting on 10 May 1883. Hon Sec was Miss Bewicke. Hon Treasurer Mrs Shellard. 'I have got the presidents for the hours nearly fixed.' i.e. the leader in each hour of prayer throughout the day.
