Photocopy of letter. Longing for her son to join her. Describes the expedition she and papa went to the Monteratsch Glacier. They like the place they are in 'no fashion nor company nor grandeur'. Grieved to hear Aunt Eliza (JB's eldest sister, Mrs Masson) is still so ill) letter unfinished.

Administrative / Biographical History

'Contie Grey is I fear seriously ill. I have written a letter to her and Adela.' Constance and Adela were both daughters of Charles Grey (JB's brother).
