'Arthur Albright is making a noble fight for East Worcestershire, wholly in our cause'
The two candidates were: Mr Lyttelton (Gladstone's nephew) Liberal; and Mr H Allsopp, Conservative. Mr Albright who was one of the vice-presidents of the Midland Electoral Union (formed in 1872), after an interview with Mr Lyttelton did not consider his views on Repeal satisfactory, and therefore offered himself as a candidate. (See 'Shield' 7 Feb 1874 pp 42-3). Both 'Lyttelton' and 'Packington' wrongly spelled. Should be Lyttelton and Pakington
Date 5th Feb was a Thursday - Monday would therefore be the 9th
Biog: Mr Lyttelton; Mr Arthur Albright; Sir John Pakington
