Administrative / Biographical History

In 1919 two special committees (later merged as one) were appointed to deal with widows' pensions and equal guardianship legislation. This work was taken over by the Status of Wives and Mothers sub-committee in Apr 1921 which was re-constituted in 1924 as the Married Women's Committee to promote the National Union of Societies for Equal Citizenship programme in legislation.

The Executive established a Parliamentary sub-committee (committee from Oct 1928) in Oct 1927.
