Journal of William Richards, August - October 1886, describing his voyage, accompanied by Albert Pearse, from Raiatea, to the Austral Islands [Tubuai Isles]. They visited firstly Rurutu where he recruited a native teacher to accompany Mr Pearce to Papua, from there he travelled to thence to Tubuai and Raivavae where the French flag is flown, and finally to Rimatara which appeared the most flourishing station.
