Scope and Content
Administrative / Biographical History
Established in 2003, the Officers’ Group comprised the Moderator, the Treasurer, four Deputy Moderators and the General Secretary. Its function was to advise the Trustee Body; to monitor the implementation of policy as directed by the Trustees; to oversee the work of the General Secretary and Executive Secretaries, and perform the role of a Staffing Sub-Committee; to ensure pastoral support for the General Secretary and Executive Secretaries; to provide interim reports to the Trustees, and to act as a Steering Committee for meetings of the Assembly and Trustee Body. The Officers’ Group met as requested by the Trustee Body. One of the meetings of the Officers’ Group each year would coincide with one meeting of the Trustee Body.
A Board of Directors replaced the Officers’ Group in 2012. In 2016 the Board of Directors was reduced from 31 members to 13. All regional mission councils were dissolved. The 13 directors manage the affairs of the entire CWM community. There are usually 3 regular Board of Directors meetings a year (February, June and November), and 1 Annual General Meeting (i.e. the ‘Council’) where the 32 churches send their representatives to attend (usually in June, alongside or after the Board of Directors meeting).
