The TfL Corporate Archives is the business area responsible for safeguarding the corporate memory of Transport for London and its predecessor companies. The Archives collects and preserves both modern and historic records from the business and holds over one hundred thousand items dating from 1556 to the present day. We collect and store records of permanent value because without its corporate memory TfL would be unable to function efficiently. The Archives preserves the evidence of our decisions and decision making processes and of the development of our corporate structure and finances, plus the records of our major capital projects, programmes and assets. The Archives is first and foremost a research facility for TfL personnel, though we are also open to the public. We collect records which document the principal business functions and actions of Transport for London, its predecessors and subsidiary companies and their interactions with London’s citizens and with the physical and social environment.
You can access our holdings by contacting us directly at firstname.lastname@example.org or by writing to us at Transport for London Corporate Archives, Information Governance, 7th floor Windsor House, 42-50 Victoria Street, London, SW1H 1TL. We hold over 140,000 files of information and will continue to add to the listings available through the Archives Hub.
