Explore Your Archive on the Archives Hub
Be part of the Archives Hub: Special Offer!
As part of the Explore Your Archives campaign the Archives Hub team are offering to take a small selection of descriptions from institutions and process them ourselves to put into the Archives Hub.
Whatever format your descriptions are in, as long as they are electronic - be it Word, Excel, an XML export from CALM or any other system - we will undertake the processing required to add them to the Archives Hub.
Selection of Content
We are offering to add between 10 and 20 collection-level descriptions to the Archives Hub for the first 20 institutions that get in touch with us.
You can select archives that you see as key research collections. Being part of the Archives Hub means they can be discovered on Google and other search engines and explored alongside the archives of our 230 contributors. We can provide links back to your own website too, helping to drive traffic to your archives.
If your descriptions do not include access points (significant terms as index entries) we will add these for you if you wish. This helps with discoverability, as researchers can find your collections through subject and name searches and can link between your descriptions and others on the Hub.
We will make sure the descriptions we add for you are all ISAD(G) compliant if they are not already.
As a bonus, you will also be part of the Archives Portal Europe if you wish to be, as we provide our descriptions to them as part of our discovery work.
Adding images and links to digital content
We can also add links to your digital archives and links to images, and if the images are the right size we can display them (see for example https://archiveshub.jisc.ac.uk/data/gb1089-ukc/bigwood)
Adding further descriptions to the Hub
If you find that being part of the Archives Hub works for you, we can provide more information about what you need to do to contribute. Remember, you can add as few or as many descriptions as you like, summary collection-level or detailed item-level, its up to you.
Who can take part?
This offer is open to any publicly accessible archives in the UK, whether specialist, government, business, university or other. You will need an Archon code in order to participate.
