Scope and Content

Darbishire House was a health centre established by the University of Manchester in 1954 to promote the teaching of general practice to medical students. It was sponsored by the Nuffield and Rockefeller Foundations, and staffed by practising GPs. It was administered by a board made up of University and local authority and NHS representatives. The Centre undertook academic research related to general practice issues. The file includes material relating to the funding of the Centre, as well as the Centre's research relationships with other departments within the Medical School.
