Documents relating to medical students at Owens College and the University of Manchester. Students of the proprietary medical schools are dealt with in the respective section of each school (MMC/5/3-6).
The collection comprises the records of the University's Medical Students Representative Council, the representative body of the medical students, set up in 1903 (MMC/5/9/1). There are also records of the Medical Students Debating Society of Owens College, an offshoot organisation of the Students Union (MMC/5/9/2) and the Owens College Medical Social union (MMC/5/9/5). There is also a collection of photographs of Manchester medical students both formal and informal (MMC/5/9/4). Most of the material is more ephemeral and relates to the social activities of the students.
